Live Q&A - Bluetooth LE Audio Revolutionizes Wireless Audio
Colin Ramrattan - STMicroelectronics - Watch Now - EOC 2024 - Duration: 50:52
Hi Obaid,
with regards to the Bluetooth Auracast Broadcast evaluation, the STM32WBA55G-DK1 Discovery Kit is the reference boards. There are other boards designed around the STM32WBA55 but targeting other firmware examples as they comply with the STM32 NUCLEO form factor and do not provide the 3.5mm Aux connectors for connecting the Audio Source or Speaker/Headphones.
thank you so much for this valuable presentation !
Hi megareve,
the Auracast examples are provided in the STM32CubeWBA package for the STM32WBA55G-DK1 Discovery Kit:
- SOURCE Audio Role (TX): STM32Cube_FW_WBA_V1.3.0\Projects\STM32WBA55G-DK1\Applications\BLE\BLE_Audio_PBP_Source
- SINK Audio Role (RX): STM32Cube_FW_WBA_V1.3.0\Projects\STM32WBA55G-DK1\Applications\BLE\BLE_Audio_PBP_Sink
You can download the STM32CubeWBA package here:

Hi I am trying to find some examples for auracast for STM32WB55 so I can play on that broadcast feature, but not sure if they are under a different name, can you point me to them ?
Hello,
Please refer to the STM32WBA55 device.
In the cube package STM32Cube_FW_WBA_V1.3.0\Projects\STM32WBA55G-DK1\Applications\BLE
The Bluetooth LE Sink and Source examples are there.
Thank you for the presentation.
When is AN5928 expected to be released?
The AN5928 is already published at st.com:

Thank you
What distance can be achieved with BLE ?
Hi Davek,
in an open field in line-of-sight using the 1Mbit PHY you can achieve a few hundreds of meters, while using the long-range mode you can even go over a kilometer.
What are the difference in memory usage (RAM and FLASH) between the full and the basic BLE stack ?
Hello Nathan,
Regarding the ram and flash usage, there is an update coming to :
AN5928 which is your reference document for both stacks.
Today we have the following as a guideline but subject to change as fixes and improvements are implemented:
Basicstack_Beacon application: Flash: 116Kbyte, SRAM 14.3Kbyte
Fullstack_Beacon P2P Server application: Flash: 226Kbyte, SRAM 24.1Kbyte
What is the typical audio latency?
In LE Audio the latency is <30ms
very nice
14:11:37 From Bob Fish to Everyone: Hi John, what are your own personal thoughts regarding future security solutions with the threat of cryptographic engines designed using quantum qubit processing devices ... around the corner? 14:12:21 From Shabbir to Everyone: What if a key was to get compromise. How could a replacement be delivered safely. 14:21:23 From Vinicius Pereira to Everyone: About LE audio, how widespread are Bluetooth peers using it? In my company we often find by chance that a peer uses LE audio instead of classic, and it is dificult to find compliant peers to test. Also could it be possible to use one STM32WB as a sink device with a smartphone sharing audio by LE? 14:24:03 From Bob Fish to Everyone: Hi Colin, does it make any sense if there was adaptive latency that would depend on the characteristics of the audio signal itself. Obviously, real-time requires minimal delay but not necessarily everything else! 14:31:11 From Bob Fish to Everyone: (Audio Transmission) Thanks for the reply. Certainly the characteristics of the channel, between the source and the sink, determines the signal delay aka latency however, I was wondering if there were applications out there where latency could be deliberately varied, for capacity optimisation reasons et al ... dependent upon the audio signal itself. 14:31:30 From Gordon to Everyone: Thank you 14:36:30 From Lyden Smith to Everyone: Can the STSAFE be paired with non-STM microcontrollers?
Are there other boards that provide the same functionality, peripherals, and integration as the 2 kits mentioned in the presentation?
